New Trails…
I’m walking down a new trail…
I’ve joined the Mary Kay team and have become an independent consultant!
If I can get past the awkwardness of feeling like I’m advertising myself!! :)
I am not a natural salesperson, and so things like this can make me feel extremely wierd and nervous.
And there is that hint of scariness to it – what if I can’t do this?
what if no one buys anything and I feel like a flop?
what if I come across like some of those [annoying] gushy people that are your friend
just so they can sell you something? scary, scary.
However, I realize that sitting in a corner isn’t going to help anything.
And so I’m giving it a try.
Sooo, as an initial start-up, during the month of June I am going to be offering specials on various items of Mary Kay – skin care products as well as the makeup and glamor! Each week there will be a different special.
I am completely sold on the products – that is the only reason I can do this little sales pitch.I have been using Mary Kay for 12 years, ever since being introduced by my aunt June, and absolutely LOVE them! There is a 100% guarantee on all products, which I really really like. If I have not been perfectly satisfied with something, I have been able to return it for full credit. This goes for any product Mary Kay sells.
This also has a two-part deal to it.
All monies from now until October will go directly toward our Ellerslie fund, 100%. So you’re contributing to a cause.
So, check in later this week for the beginning of the specials!Meanwhile, you can check out the products here: www.marykay.com/claritayoder.
If you are new to Mary Kay, it’s fun to look at the Tips & Trends, Best Sellers, Beauty on a Budget, or New Products under the left hand tabs of the site.
[disclaimer: this is not meant to take current customers away from existing consultants. If you already have a consultant, then be a peach and stick with her.]

Aw, I”m proud of you for being brave and trying this, even if you think you aren’t naturally a sales person. Confidence can be as elusive as ice cream on a sidewalk in July. I should know. Because I’m working up courage in my corner right now, too. So hats off to you and lots and lots of well-wishes!
I will be checking back! I’ve been thinking about changing makeup (I never graduated from Cover Girl…yikes!). Good for you Clarita, way to be brave and try something new! Your beautiful skin is a natural, walking advertisement
i’ve often considered home sales…but haven’t really found many things that I believe in strongly enough that I would sell them. I like mary kay but haven’t stuck with it long enough that I’d be a consultant, but i’ve talked to several people who are different levels in the company and its definately a great place/company to work for. for my grad8 grad my neighbor did my makeup! it was great. i am so excited for this new journey. I have been reading about leadership and influencing others and the primary thing i’ve picked up is friendship and relationships with others…true genuine friendships, which i’ve no doubt you have. I’m 100% sure that you will NOT be the kind of person who is gushy and pushy, i think that people will see how much you genuinely love the product and helping them find something they’ll love too. i’m excited to hear more about this journey as it continues.
perhaps i missed something along the way but you mentioned some of the money going to the Ellerslie project and i wasn’t aware what that was.
be blessed.
Good for you! What a wonderful chance you have to allow God to shine through you…blessings!
Are you?? That’s neato~and exciting! Yes, not too many products that I would want to get behind and sell 100%, but Mary Kay is definitely a great one. Now to decide if I should be a peach or not.
My consultant, whom I believe you know (melissa), is so great at what she does, and I’ve told Phil several times that something about her professional business dealings are one big reason that I’ve loved buying from her. She’s great about answering my calls or emails promptly, offers suggestions, gets an order to me ASAP and/or keeps me informed (emails) about the status of an order that may be taking longer than normal. All things that *seem* should be common among independent consultants, but you’d be surprised how often someone loses a sale or loyal customer because of little neglects. Ok, so enough of the sermonizing. I was only trying to ENCOURAGE you and give TIPS from the customer’s point of view. I know you will do WELL! And I’m proud of you for taking on something like this and the challenges of balancing it with family and other priorities. May your business be blessed above what you have been able to imagine or think . . . and while, of course, a main reason for starting such a venture is the $$$ factor (may it please abound, Lord, to pay for the great Autumn adventure in CO), I can also see how it could open doors for you to meet and share your the Lord of your life with people around you. May it be so!
wow! hope it goes well for you. i can never quite find the money to buy make up anywhere but wal-mart… but on the rare occasion that i do buy MaryKay, i get it from Mel.
@mytoesareblue - Those are good, encouraging things for me to hear – that it’s genuine friendship that is the best, not a pushy salesperson!
The Ellerslie project I should have elaborated on more – Ben and I are going to Colorado for 10 weeks in October, to a school called Ellerslie. You can google it for more information.
@FOREVERLANE - thank you, thank you! Such great tips, and yes, my consultant was the same way and I LOVED that about her! Customer service is the best way to get someone sold on a product! And yes, I know Melissa!
Good for you! I hope that it goes really well for you. Believing in what you are selling definitely helps with that sort of thing. I am not much of a make up person, but the Mary Kay products that I have used, I have liked.
I have been using Mary Kay for probably 6 years … maybe longer. I LOVE it! It is the ONLY mascera I have ever been able to use. I still can’t wear it everyday, but if I do, I don’t have adverse effects as I did with other stuff. I am sure you will make a fabulous Mary Kay Lady and if the chance were to arise to drive that pink Cadilac … you would Rock it! Best wishes on your new adventure and I hope you make many friends and great sales along the way!
Good for you! I have been using Mary Kay for about 35 years! My MIL was my first consultant
I am sure you will be great at it. It helps to have something that you can fully stand behind. May the Lord bless you in this.
good for you!!! i hope it is a HUGE success!
Believe in yourself #1!!! I loved selling MK! I had such an amazing directer who took very shy, awkward me and I was transformed with the help of Mary Kay! I’m not even kidding. It was the first time I really got out of my comfort zone. I learned SO MUCH. I may sell it again someday, especially when Loren deploys.. but for now I just use it on myself. I’m completely sold on the products and I love the mineral foundation.
How exciting!!! I will check back.
I use Mary Kay eyeshadow…and lipgloss. LOVE it! =)
I think you’re going to do a Great job! You’re going to be driving a pink car before you know it!!! lol.
@The_Carpers - @Elizabethmarie_1 @MartinTreehouse @foreveranoatneygirl_n2Hisown - @inanorchard - - - ha ha, I’m not even thinking ‘pink car’! I’m just thinking that I love the product, and want other people to enjoy it too. I’m not wanting to be pushy, so we’ll see how it goes! Thanks for your votes of confidence though!
