  • Olivia at 4 Months

Little Olivia is growing right up. How a little baby goes from newborn to four months old in what seems like much less time than four months is amazing to me. How we’re almost at the end of September already when it seems like that week was just the end of May is crazy. I must be getting older. :)

This stage with Olivia is just so fun. When my babies are tiny, I think the newborn stage is my favorite. When they out-grow that and reach the next stage, then I think that stage is my favorite. I guess they’re just all my favorite. But Ben, especially, is loving a more responsive child, one who loves interaction and talking, one who can just giggle her heart out… Her personality really feels like it’s emerging. She is just a sweetheart of a baby, seems very tenderhearted already.

I ran out the door the other evening to take a quick photo shoot before it got too dark. I was messing with some of the lighting settings on my camera, and think I set them too light. Baby looks more light-skinned on these pictures than she does in real life.

This dress was given by a friend… Just darling!

Olivia has been a delightful baby, ever since she passed the somewhat colicky stage. She smiles so readily, although when she isn’t smiling she can look so serious.

I love the interaction between Zoe and Olivia. Zoe just adores her little sister, and can make her giggle and laugh so much! Of course, that just does wonders for Zoe’s ego, and she tries to  love on her all the more. Zoe’s pet name for Olivia right now is “Love of my Life.” :) )

Yes, Baby is a thumb-sucker. I think it’s the darlingest thing ever! But I’m still trying to push a pacifier on her, because I can take a pacifier eventually but not a thumb, but she will often push it out and stick in her thumb.

    Silver shoes – whether baby-sized or me-sized… I just can’t resist.

She seems so big on this picture!

And a few indoor pictures. A baby picture-post is clearly for the grandparents and aunties/uncles who hardly get to see her. I know other people just won’t appreciate it as much. ;) And that’s okay.

When she smiles, there are dimples in full glory. How she got this stray gene, I don’t know. But I am delighted!

  • awe Clarita! she is getting so big! and she’s so adorable!

  • i love the pictures!  she is too cute!  and yes, i agree w/ you that this is a very FUN stage that they are in.  So enjoy your day as a mom and kiss your girls often!!! =)

  • These pictures are all so, so good!!  I love the outdoors ones esp., but the first indoor one that you have posted is just irresistable!!  She really is a darling little girl, and I can’t help but love up on her when I’m around her!(:

  • Wow, you have some really good pictures there!  Love the dimple! :)   I look at the ones where she’s not smiling and all I see is your dad & Claudia.  Is that a common comment?  And in reference to a previous post, I love seeing pictures of your inspirations and ideas, and how you’re making your house your own.  I love seeing other peoples decorations and then using that as a spin-off for something that I can do in my own house.

  • I agree with Sherri – she looks like your dad ! I’m sure he’d be delighted to hear that huh? :) Have a wonderful day…

  • ahhhhhhh….these are priceless!! don’t make me impulsively buy the next plane ticket to GA!! =) you did a fine job with these photos-the first one is absolutely magazine perfect! you really should blow that up on canvas! the lighting is great, i don’t think these photos are too light! she’s already changing her looks since august!! sniff…and i can totally identify with her love for sucking her thumb, [heehaw] =) awww!! she’s too adorable! squeeze & kiss her & zoe about a million times for me today…=) hope today is going better for you…loves!

  • May I just say I love love love your posting binge. You could post books full of pictures and I still wouldn’t be tired of them. It makes my entire day. Olivia is positively darling and I’m buying a ticket with Jan. The one of you is simply lovely – oh, and I was seconds away from buying that exact same dress… she looks adorable in it. Come see me soon, little Yoder family… or I’ll come see you.

  • dearest faraway beloved’s.
    how i miss you all.
this morning while i was garage sailing i found myself drawn to the baby clothes over and over. and of course, i can’t wait to give my new finds. :]
i love you ladies truly. [ and that goes for ben too. ]

  • I’m not a relative, but I really enjoy seeing every one of these darling pictures!!  Gorgeous baby!!!!

Wonderful weekend to you !  hugs…

  • So precious! Love the dimples – I couldn’t believe it either when I first noticed Bridget’s dimple! I love to make her smile just to see it again. ( :
I got that same dress for my sister in law when she had her baby earlier this year. I think it’s just darling.
I loved the one of you and her – so so cute.

Hope you have a great weekend – it’s turning cold up here! Mj

  • such a beautiful little baby she is! lovin’ the pictures, even tho’ i’m not fam!=) i really love her dress! and, my, don’t you look downright terrific after having a baby only four months ago!! your pics always look so lovely; I love the ‘softness’ of them…may I ask what setting you use to achieve that look? I feel like I have so much to learn with my xsi, and I’ll take any tips I can get!
    have a wonderful weekend!

  • sweet pictures.  and totally love the dress too.

  • I love all the cute shots and the shoes…adorable!

  • i enjoy the pictures too and im not related. :) you do such a fine job. what brand camera do you use?

  • @SherriMonCheri  -@weswife - Yes, I do often hear that she looks like my dad, and I think so too! Sometimes I look at her and think, “Ervin John Barkman?!!” And yes yes, he is as delighted as can be. :)

@grandmas_gurl - oh yummy, I like yard sale finds. :)

@foreveranoatneygirl - I’m not sure what the softness is. I don’t use a soft lense or edit them like that. I have a Rebel xTI and  am still trying to learn all the settings on it. At the rate I’m going it’ll take me years. :) But I often use the TV setting at 1/80 and the AV as low as I can to get a good apeture. I have two lenses, and for this I used my 50mm fixed lense with a 1.5 apeture, I think it is. I love that lense, although it’s kind of a pain sometimes that it’s fixed and I can’t zoom. When I have $400 extra dollars laying around I’ll buy me a zoom lense of the same kind. Ha! I also mess with the manual light settings – Jana actually showed me how to do that, and I LOVE that feature. I hardly edit my photos then because I can take the picture how I want it to be most times. So, you probably know a lot of that stuff already and here I rambled. :) But Jana knows as much or more than I know, she and I have the same camera, and she could show you hands-on. I always learn better that way than reading something…

  • @cupajava - I use a Canon Rebel xTI. and LOVE it! There is a newer model now than what I have, and they’re fairly pricey for a home camera, but it was well worth it for me!

  • I love your pictures here, Clarita. Seems like most of us “unrelated” people do. =) Makes me want to get back into taking more pictures again and try to make them this good. My camera has been setting on the “back shelf” a little more these days . . . my hands are still getting used to being filled with two children, plus all the STUFF that is required to keep them clean and sweet . . . . And the pictures that I have been taking seem to be “regressing” instead of progressing in quality.

Olivia is absolutely adorable and cute as can be! And, oh, how I have been thinking of you since we talked the other day . . . missing you, mulling over the things we did have time to discuss, and wishing for about 20 more hours to sort through the rest [I think I used "20 hours" in my last comment to you too~must be an indication of how much I feel we need more time . . . ] I am SOOO ready for the father of my two to come home and never ever leave for this long ever, ever again. I’ve had my fun and I’m glad he was able to take the trip, but there IS a reason why God designed a home to have TWO parents, I think!!

Ok,I need to go to bed . . . but just have to say once more and agree with one of your sisters that I love when you go on a “posting binge”. ta ta!!

  • @FOREVERLANE - *My* husband left for two days as well – a quick trip to Atlanta with a group of men from church to help with the flooding and all that. And he just left this morning and I’m trying to think of what I can do to fill the time… and what Zoe will do when her daddy doesn’t come home tonight (“Daddy’s workin’ hard!” she said this morning. “But Daddy come home.” said very confidently, thinking this is just a normal day. She doesn’t realize he won’t be coming home tonight.)

As for *your* pictures – you are the one that’s been inspiring me to keep taking baby pictures! I think your pictures are great! I wish we could get together even just so we could talk “camera stuff.” :) I always like to talk to people that have basically the same camera because there is often a feature they use that I didn’t know about, and vice versa. I just learn much better hands-on than reading a manual…

I keep thinking about you too since our talk. I’ll be home this afternoon, and I think most of tomorrow, unless I get a sudden urge to go up and out of here. I told Ben is he were gone just a little longer I would hike it up to PA. :) But maybe we can keep talking one of these days! Try me, or I’ll call you again…

Hang in there – not much longer until you’ll be a complete family again! I think sometimes that separations can do Ben and me good. But then *after* the fact, we are not wanting to ever be apart again!!

  • Such a cutie! You did a great job on her pics! LOVE that first one as well! :)

  • Hello Mrs. Clarita,
You made your site simple yet elegant. The pictures are a nice touch. I see that you have a wide variety of interests and observations here!
I’m sending an important message to people from Jehovah God that is in the Bible: 15 I will pour out my vengeance on all the nations that refuse to obey me.” (Micah 5:15) (NLT)

  • Clarita, the first picture is just adorable!! and I love the first indoor shot, too!!! Such a cute, cute baby and her dimples…Mmmm. I have no words.

One thing I’m wondering…your images have a yellowish tint. Is it just me? Do you want them to have that hue? I understand that the indoor shots look warm, but the outdoor images puzzled me–unless you did an auto levels adjust on them. Sorry, just curious.

  • Your little girl is so cute. You take amazing pictures. Lorraine – Derrell’s sister

  • Hey, did you see my post? I was really hoping you could give me some inspirations in the decor part of things. Although I know that’s kind of hard if you don’t know what I have to work with. I really wish I could just get you to come over and help me put things together.

  • clarita. clarita. clarita.
    i miss the babies.
    i miss the mommie.
    i miss mr.ben.
oh my stars, i miss you all so much. :]

  • @twofus_1 - kept wanting to respond to you about the yellowish tint in Olivia’s pictures a month ago! Thank you for saying something! Marylou said something too, and I had my camera on the wrong setting for portraits! Hopefully from now on I’ll remember to change it! But thanks, I want tips like that.
